In Minnesota, only no-fault divorce is recognized. The only valid ground for divorce is "Irretrievable breakdown of the marriage." There is no need for either party to prove the other spouse's misconduct before the court or to defend themselves.

In Minnesota, the only required evidence of an Irretrievable breakdown of the marriage is the fact that the parties have lived separately for at least 180 days or a severe conflict is recognized by both spouses and there is no hope for reconciliation.
