Arkansas Residency Requirements for Divorce
In order for Arkansas courts to have jurisdictional rights to hear the divorce case, the spouses must meet the established residency requirements of the state.
Either spouse must have been a resident of Arkansas for at least 60 days before filing for a divorce.
The Petition for divorce must be filed in the county where the plaintiff (the spouse who initiates a divorce) lives. If the plaintiff is not a resident of Arkansas, then the divorce papers may be filed within the county where the other spouse resides.
