Washington D.C. Residency Requirements for Divorce
To be eligible to file for divorce in the District of Columbia, at least one of the spouses must meet the valid residency requirements of D.C.
Either the plaintiff or the defendant must have been a resident of Washington D.C. continuously for six months or more before the commencement of a divorce action.
The divorce forms and documents must be filed at the Family Court Central Intake Center of the D.C. Superior Court.
